Miami-Dade Public Defender Carlos J. Martinez is hiring an entry-level paralegal.

PD-11 Overview: The Public Defender is an elected official who has a constitutional duty to provide legal representation to persons in jeopardy of losing their liberty who cannot afford to hire a private attorney.

Position Type: Full time, entry-level.

Job Description

The paralegal assists with client intake interviews in correctional facilities and hospitals, requesting and processing records, records’ review, preparing calendars, files, documentation and follow through.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Proficiency in MSWord
  • Excellent verbal, written, computer, communication and interpersonal skills
  • English/Spanish and/or English/Creole required
  • Reliable vehicle, as travel is required in and around the Miami area
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
