Job Opening: Intake Interviewer

The Public Defender for the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida seeks an intake interviewer.

The Public Defender is an elected official who has a constitutional duty to provide legal representation to persons in jeopardy of losing their life or liberty who cannot afford to hire a private attorney. Our office employs nearly 230 attorneys plus investigators, mitigation specialists, and secretaries to assist with the more than 65,000 cases we handle each year. Salary and Benefits

  • Starting salary is $41,600. Depending on qualifications, educational background, and required relevant experience, qualified candidates may start at a higher salary

Job Description

The intake interviewer assists with client intake interviews in correctional facilities and hospitals, requesting and processing records, records' review, preparing calendars, files, documentation and follow through. It is an in-person position, working at the jail. No hybrid or remote work permitted.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Word
  • Excellent verbal, written, computer, communication and interpersonal skills
  • English/Spanish and/or English/Creole required
  • Reliable vehicle, as travel is required in and around the Miami area
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
