Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office receives public service award

Miami, FL — June 16, 1998 — The law offices of Public Defender Bennett H. Brummer was awarded a certificate of appreciation by the YMCA of Greater Miami for its "valuable contributions" to the YMCA’s Third Annual Mock Trial held last month for teenagers.

Every year the Public Defender’s Office participates in the mock trial competition, in which the attorneys act as coaches for teams and real judges preside over the competition. The exercise provides a positive learning experience about the justice system, fosters high academic and career goals and establishes relationships between the youth and professional role models.
