Hiring Process for Attorneys
Law students and attorneys seeking employment as assistant public defenders must
submit a resume and writing sample with their application. For information on
applying, click here.
Attorneys should direct their submissions to Executive Assistant Public
Defender, and General Counsel
Rory Stein.
Students and interns should direct their submissions to the Training Director
Robert Coppel.
Prospective candidates who successfully complete an intense interview session
with hypothetical questions and scenarios will be offered the opportunity to
participate in a hiring conference where candidates are interviewed by a panel
of several assistant public defenders who select the best to become members of
our team.
We frequently hire former interns because our assistant public defenders have
had an opportunity to work with them and can share their first-hand experience
with the hiring committee. For information regarding our training program,

internship program can either email their resume to
Robert or mail it to him at the address
given at the bottom of this page. |
